The goal of this project was to develop a fully functional prototype of an application for the tracking of students as they complete offsite learning activities. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with professors through the application for assistance as needed.
Students throughout the university system regularly participate in offsite learning activities that are not supervised by faculty. Occasionally, the need arises for students to contact their instructors during these activities and provide feedback on these experiences. Currently, there is no acceptable method for these students to contact instructors in real time. This project corrects this by providing a one-stop interface in which students can view their assignments, clock in and out of offsite activities, and contact with instructors in real time.
There are two facets to the development of the reflection application. The first is the interface, which is developed using the MVC Pro framework, Bootstrap, PHP, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML programming languages. The second aspect of the project is a MySQL Database that sits behind the application and provides all information for the application. Additional features include sending automated emails to students after completion of events and uploading files to the server for viewing.
