Storage Area Network(SAN) Pricing Research

The student working on this project was given a list of requirements that the client wanted for the SAN. The SAN needed to be from Dell. The client also provided the student a budget to stay within while conducting price research. The deliverable for this project was two recommendations that fit within the requirements provided by the client. The first recommendation was MD3000i configured as a RAID 1 with two 146GB hard drives at 15K RPMS costing $6,930. The second recommendation was also MD3000i but this one was configured as a RAID 5 with three 79GB hard drives at 15K RPM costing $7,149.

Living Lab is a great class to gain experience that you can apply to the real world. The small class means there is more one-on-one time with the lab instructor. The Living Lab also lets you get your hands dirty with hardware and not just focus on exams and homework. I can apply what I learned in other classes to real-world scenarios.
