For the IT Academy VMware Live Migration project, I was tasked to research and build a Networked-Attached Storage (NAS) for the existing VMware environment. This would allow the virtual machines that are stored on the NAS to move from host to host without downtime or the need to restart. This would prove extremely useful for the learning environments that are used in the IT Academy. I conducted research about FreeNAS, vMotion, and how to setup these two things. I also setup a FreeNAS server, updated its operating system, and secured it connection using Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) compared to the standard HTTP which was a security risk as the password could be sniffed on HTTP compared to HTTPS. Unfortunately due to unforeseen issues and time constraints I was unable to continue work on what the previous student had built to finish this project.
